EVOKE! 4: Interactive Gordon Brown Two, South Bank, London. 17/4/2010

As Interactive Gordon Brown One was removed so quickly by security, I wanted to reaffirm my right to have freedom of speech in this area of so called “Public Space”. So on a sunny saturday afternoon, I returned to the scene with a new and improved version of The Interactive Gordon Brown installation, this time equipped with a provacative dry wipe thought bubble floating above the prime ministers head. The fourth installation of the series, Interactive Gordon Brown Two, this time around, came with an in built hidden camera mounted to the back of the installation, to record through a drilled hole the faces of those reacting and interacting with the piece.

After generating quite a crowd of amused city users, people were almost queing to write in the thought bubble, enticed by the oppurtunity to express themselves publically. After seven minutes, the brutes from security, the same men as last time, angrily pushed through and aggressively ripped down the installation severing Gordon Brown in two. Luckily, i was able to do an epic dive for the hidden camera on the back just in time. Puzzled they then walked off with the two shards of Gordon as an engaged crowd complained about the overreaction.
